Seaport Center II

The Seaport Foundation is excited to announce Seaport Center II, a second floating workshop on the Potomac River that will increase our capacity to teach Apprentices and engage with the community. Situated next to our original McIlhenny Seaport Center, Seaport Center II will:

  • Expand our capacity to serve Apprentices
  • Preserve Maritime Heritage and craftsmanship on the Alexandria waterfront
  • Connect the community to woodworking and traditional boats

Building a Bright Future

Seaport Center II will add 2,500 sq. ft. of workshop, teaching, and office space to our current 1,500 sq. ft. building. This new space will allow us to welcome more Apprentices, host community events and classes, and provide dedicated offices for our program staff.

Together, Seaport Center II and our original McIlhenny Seaport Center will become the keystone for empowering underserved young adults with the job and life skills they need to succeed.

Help us reach our fundraising match!

As we continue fundraise, two of our longtime fundershave offered generous matching grants to support us!

  • The Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation is supporting us with a $100,000 matching grant, which we announced in the fall.
  • Seaport Foundation donor Oscar Fitzgerald IV has given us a $50,000 matching grant as well. Oscar shared that he is “thrilled to contribute to a cause so close to my heart.”

These two generous grants mean that every dollar you donate will be matched two-for-one
