This is the kit for an enjoyable first-time boatbuilding experience.
This rowing boat’s straightforward design and construction make it good to both build and use. It reflects our experience in building hundreds of boats with families and community groups. This is a traditional skiff design that’s built just like most of the work skiffs that have come before it… No lofting, no molds, no spiling, no special tools. The kit includes all the parts, fasteners and adhesive. You can order oars through us. You need to provide paint, basic hand tools and two saw horses.
All you have to do is JUST BUILD IT!
Bevin’s Skiff Kit
$850 (plus shipping in U.S. (lower 48) estimated at between $145 and $185 per kit. Surcharges (shipper’s) apply if not going to a commercial location, and $42.50 sales tax if sent to a VA address.
Our kits use the best materials including African Mahogany marine plywood for the sides and bottom, clear spruce for the chines and rails, and Atlantic white cedar for the transom. All the pieces are cut to size. We include everything to build the boat- plans and even a step-by-step building manual. All you supply are basic hand tools and two saw horses. These kits are built by our apprentices. The proceeds support our programs for disadvantaged youth.
Bevin’s Skiff Plans
$50 (plus $6.00 shipping and handling)
If you want to do it all yourself, all the information is here. We’ve laid out the expanded panel shapes for the sides and bottom. All the other pieces can be “gotten out” on a table saw- including the stem rabbet. A materials list tells you everything you’ll need. A step by step building manual takes you through the process. Purchasing these plans gives you the right to build two boats; if you wish to build more, a royalty of $10 per boat must be paid to ASF.
If you would like to purchase a set of plans, please call or send in your order and payment to the address below, including $6 shipping and handling.
